Twelve Haikus (Poem)

A self-explanatory post.

RAIN
Roaring symphony
Water’s dance upon the earth
Smell the blood of stone

FOOD
Flavours on the tongue
Fleeting sweetness chased once more
Nothing ever sates

BOREDOM
Searching for int’rests
Nothing quells the apathy
Satisfaction wanes

HAPPINESS
Glimpses of the sun
Mercurial as a breath
Hidden from my view

SADNESS
Long forgotten sense
Yearning for something unknown
Tears that never fall

FATIGUE
Eyes begin to droop
Muscles cry for moment’s rest
Heart cannot persist

SLEEP
Closed eyes, still body
My mind refuses to cease
I wake without rest

STRESS
Countdowns overhead
Held together by a thread
Tearing me apart

BODY
Skin that does not fit
Stranger’s face reflected back
Jail of bone and flesh

SELF-HARM
Cuts and bruises spread
Pain gives way to brief respite
Emptiness endures

BLOOD
Copper on the tongue
Pulsing behind tired eyes
Rushing in the ears

PAIN
Muscles groan with stress
Bones ache, eyes strain, scratches sting
Never really leaves
